How many wedding dresses do I need to try?

Of all the wedding planning jobs on the list, every bride-to-be looks forward to trying on the season's most beautiful wedding dresses. But before you make a shopping appointment at one of Cornwall Bridal Boutiques, it's important to remember that the search for your perfect wedding gown is a marathon, not a sprint. Most brides visit anywhere from three to five bridal boutiques in Cornwall and I always recommend trying on a variety of styles from multiple designers. Trying on several gowns helps you to understand what flatters your body and makes you feel amazing.

  1. Keep an open mind

Always keep an open mind when you’re looking at wedding dresses. Many brides come into the bridal boutique with a clear idea of exactly want they want. But I’ll let you into a secret… it’s really unusual for a bride to leave the shop with a dress on order that matches the picture she brought with her, in her head.

2. Wedding Dresses

There are so many styles of wedding dresses to choose from, so although keeping an open mind is important, it's also essential to remember that the whole point of trying on a variety of styles is to narrow down the styles of what you like and what you are comfortable wearing - not to make your search more difficult. Which begs the question: Can you ever try on too many wedding dresses?

3. How many is too many?

I would recommend trying up to 8 dresses in one appointment. If you have multiple boutique appointments on the same day try not to do any more than three as trying on wedding dresses can be hard work! If you get tired, you’re likely to lose motivation and you want to enjoy the experience fully. I also recommend visiting another boutique before you come to meet me at Bridal Gossip. Our brides tell us we do things quite differently here, so making us your second or third visit will give you the best chance of the best possible bridal fitting experience with us.

4. Losing Motivation.

Finding the perfect wedding dress can be a long process and its very easy to lose heart and feel deflated. The main thing to remember is that your wedding dress is out there somewhere and you will often find it when you least expect it. Sometimes taking a break from the wedding dress world really helps.

5. Follow your heart.

I’ve had brides that have tried on one wedding dress and fallen in love immediately. But this is really unusual. I’ve had brides that have tried on 200 dresses before they found The One. You know what’s important to you and as soon as you slip into a dress you’ll know if the fabric feels like something you can wear and if it will match the kind of day you want to have. So, follow your emotions and you’ll know when it’s ‘the one’.

I hope this wedding dress blog post was useful, and that starting your dress shopping journey isn’t as daunting as you you first thought. If you would like to chat through in more detail please do not hesitate to get in touch at www.bridalgossip.co.uk. We never put any pressure on brides to decide and I’m here to guide you every step of the way and help find the dress that is just perfect for you.
