Wedding Dresses in Cornwall: 5 Top Tips on how to choose your wedding dress.

Every bride wants to look absolutely breathtaking on their wedding day, so choosing the right wedding dress is key. Whether you are going for a traditional white gown or for an alternative style, you want a dress that suits you. Many brides feel overwhelmed at the prospect of picking out a dress. With so many styles and widely varying prices, it can seem daunting to find that perfect dress for you! Here’s 5 top tips to help choose the wedding dress of your dreams.

1. Do Your Research.

The right wedding dress takes time to find so what’s key is to actually figure out what styles and colours you like. Think about shapes that represent your body type and colours that suit your skin tone. Not all shapes, styles and colours suit every bride so it’s important to know the wedding dresses that will compliment you. Bridal magazines and of course Pinterest are great ways to get a fuller sense of what kinds of dresses are on trend and available. Even though you may have an idea of what kind of fit you're looking for, there are still many other factors to choosing the perfect dress.

2. Budget

Consider your finances. You more than likely have some kind of wedding budget so this should give you some idea of how much you have to work with. If you are not sure what prices wedding dresses are or how much you want to spend, chat to friends and family and your parter on whats a sensible budget to start with and whats your maximum. You also may have to alter or adjust your dress. Make sure to give yourself enough flexibility to be able to afford this. And of course don’t forget accessories. Don't think of your wedding attire as only your dress. You will probably need to buy accessories like a veil, shoes and jewellery. Do some quick research to find out prices for these items, and take them out of the budget.

3. Start Early

You want to give yourself enough time to find the right wedding dress. While there isn't a set time when you must start looking, it may be wise to start about nine months to a year before your wedding. Your search will involve visiting several different shops and bridal boutiques, and also possibly getting your dress altered. This is why starting far in advance can be helpful. Wedding dresses normally take between 3-8 months to arrive once you order, unless you are buying off the peg.

4. Make An Appointment

After you have found several shops you want to visit, call them to set up an appointment. Before making the appointment, tell them your budget and a rough idea of what kind of dress you are looking for. If they say that they have dresses that fit your preferences, go ahead and schedule an appointment. Be prepared for the appointment. Make sure to wear the same kind of undergarments and shoes that you plan to wear on your wedding day. Also make sure to take a little time on your appearance. This will help you be able to really envisage how you will look on your wedding day.
