How do I know I’ve found my wedding dress?: 5 ways to know it’s right by bridal boutique in Cornwall.
Shopping for the perfect wedding dress should be a fun and memorable experience. However, it can also be a lot of pressure. If you bring friends or family along to the bridal boutique, you’ve got to juggle a lot of opinions. Everyone has a different idea about how to choose a wedding dress, what the perfect wedding dress looks like, for example. It’s hard to focus on what you want in the midst of all that noise. It can also be hard to know when you find “the one”. Maybe you have budget concerns, or you’re indecisive, or you’re just waiting for the dress that gives you that overwhelming urge to say “yes!” Whatever your reason its still an important decision so here’s 5 great tips to help.
1) It might surprise you!
Your perfect wedding dress could be totally different from what you expected. Maybe you thought you wanted an A-line dress, but none of them worked for you, so your bridal consultant showed you a mermaid-style gown that blew you away. We don’t always know what we want until we see it on ourselves. Be open to surprises when choosing a wedding dress!
2) “Say ‘Yes’ to the Dress” moment
With all the pressure to find the perfect wedding dress, it may seem like choosing one is an impossible feat. Don’t count on an emotionally climactic moment where you know you’ve found “the one.” Think back to your relationship with your spouse-to-be—did you know immediately, or did you fall in love over time? Shopping for a wedding dress can be the same. Some dresses will grow on you the more you think about them. Others may be like exes—they seemed great at first, but after a while, you realised it wasn’t mean to be. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to have that expected feeling as for many it is often just the way that dress makes you feel.
3) Say ‘yes’ to… the following questions.
I recommend asking yourself a series of yes or no questions about the dress. Will I feel comfortable in this all night long? Can I dance in it? Is it within my price range? Does it flatter me now, without me needing to lose weight or worry about certain features? Does it make me feel amazing and confident? The process of falling in love with the dress may be a series of small “yes” answers to questions like these—not an emotional climax.
4) The “perfect” dress,
Don’t waste your time shopping for “the best” dress. When people talk about finding the perfect wedding dress, this puts undue pressure on the experience. It often leads to disappointment, too. You don’t have to try on hundreds of dresses to find one you love, just like you didn’t have to date hundreds of people to find the love of your life. So don’t worry about whether or not there’s something better out there—find something you love and say yes!
5) Goodbye Dress
Now imagine finding that perfect gown and you’ve answered all the yes questions so you know it’s the one. What if I were to tell you that tomorrow it could be gone! No! You’ve spent weeks trying on dresses to find it and now that dress may go. Many dresses discontinue and many get sold off the peg. If you find that dress that ticks all the boxes don’t sleep on it! As much as I would often advise some time for brides who are still finding their way on the wedding dress process, for those that have found the one often then think “What if I see another one” You can on and on but don’t be disappointed if it’s not there when you return.
